Whenever I try to do a search for a contact or an
appointment, Outlook 2000 crashes with the message:

Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to
close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I remember having a similar problem a few year's ago.  The
problem then was related to the HP printer driver.  The
fix was to set the default printer driver to a local Adobe
Acrobat driver.  However, the printer driver is still
Adobe Acrobat and Outlook 2000 crashes whenever its search
function is activated.

Outlook 2000:  SP3
Operating system:  Windows XP home

Take a look at this MS KB article, it may help:

The Microsoft Knowledgebase article Q237912 worked.
Deleting the registry key QuickFindMRU and then restarting
Outlook 2000 stops Outlook from crashing whenever you
attempt to do a search.

Thanks
John

I have Windows 2000 and Office XP running. I have the same
problem. When I try to search for a contact I enconter a
crash and Outlook resarts. The message is the same as
yours. This just started recently. It was working OK for a
long time and then something happened to cause this issue.
I have reinstalled Outlook and Office, but it doesnt cure
the problem.
