In Win98 I tried to export my Adress Book to WinXP, but
the IMPORT and EXPORT items under FILE were greyed, even
after I selected some folders and files. So I copied
the .wab file from WINDOWS\APPLICATION
DATA\MICROSOFT\ADDRESS BOOK. But this turned out to be an
almost empty 96K default file. Any suggestions for
importing my old contacts will be appreciated.

Outlook does not use the WAB.
Are you sure you're using Outlook? If so, post your version and mail support
mode.
Exporting is done from Outlook, not the Address Book.
