Removing Special Folder Contacts from Calendar

HI,

I ran this by my IT guys, but they failed miserably, so
I'll give the group a crack at my simple little problem.

Outlook 2000 allowed me to (accidently) drag my Contacts,
an outlook "special folder," into my Calendar so that it
became a subfolder of my calendar. But then it decided
that because it is a special folder it would not allow me
to either move it back or to delete it. Way to go
microsoft!

I can copy it back to the appropriate level (as a 1st tier
subfolder of Outlook Today), but the original stuck under
calendar remains the default for all newly created
contacts (as well as for my palm pilot). So I continue to
use it rather than run the confusion of fishing all my new
contacts out of a duplicate folder.

My question is: Is there anyway to get this my Contacts
folder back to the appropriate place?

It has not created huge problems, and my palm still can
synchronize with the contacts folder as a subfolder, but
it would just be nice to put my contacts back with its
special folder peers.

It seems like there should be a simple solution to this...

Thanks

Look on the Slipstick site for Ffolder Utility:

Ffolder Utility: Utility to rename or delete "special"
Outlook folders such as the Calendar, Tasks, Inbox, and
Contacts. VB source code included.
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/gallery/index.htm#ffolder

Look on technet for the information on how to rebuild the
Contacts system folder with the "/ResetFolders" switch:

OL2000: Additional Command-Line Switches
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3ben-us%3b197180

1) Transfer your info into a safe folder.
2) Delete the "messed up system Contacts folder" using the
   Ffolder Utility.
3) Rebuild your Contacts system folder using the ".../ResetFolders"
   switch
3) Then you can transfer them back into the system folder after
   the rebuild.

Thanks for the quick concise response.

I used the Ffolder to delete the problem folder.

Following the the "/ResetFolders" swith document I ran
into the problem that I cannot locate the actual
Outlook.exe file to run the swith  on. All of the
shortcuts list "Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional"
as the target, but no location is provided.

My computer is part of corporate network running Windows
2000 Server. Any ideas where this Outlook.exe file may be
hidden from me or is it possible that it actually doesn't
exist on my computer?
