You haven't helped me much. If you type "Dean" where?
If it is within the Outlook Address Book, then it will only turn up matches
with electronic addresses, since that is all the OAB contains.
If it is in a Contacts Folder, than all possible Contacts should appear.

Sorry if I am being unclear but I am obviously confused.
I will try to be a little more detailed.
I have a an empty text box that is next to the Address
book icon so it probably is related to the address book.
HOWEVER, on this same computer up until yesterday, if I
typed "Dean" into that box and hit enter, it would bring
up a window titled Choose Contact with a list of Contacts
names only of everyone in my contacts list that had the
name Dean as part of their first or last name. It would
include contacts that have only a personal phone number
and not an electronic addrss as well as those with
electronic addresses. You then click on one and it brings
you to their contact. My partners computer is STILL
exhibiting this behavior using the same public contacts
folder.
Since yesterday, my computer has changed behavior. Now
when I type "Dean" in that same box, it brings up a
different window titled "Check Names" with only those
names that have electronic addresses along with thier
electronic address type etc.
I just looked again at my partners computer (Also running
Windows XP and OL 2003) and it retains the earler
behavior described above, not the new behavior of my
computer. He doesn't need to have the contacts folder
open or selected at the time. He can be in his inbox and
it still perform as indicated.
Let me know if you need more information and thanks for
sticking with me.

Well since nothing happens for no reason, I only need to know that you
changed on your system just before you lost the ability to search your
Contacts Folder.

I'll repost so that it makes more sense:

The only thing I did was create a custom contact form
that added a tab and new fields for that tab. I didn't
touch any of the existing tabs or fields. However, i did
this from my home computer and the home computer and my
partner's computer use the same custom form but don't
exhibit this behavior.
I did try detect and repair today with no results. I
uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 this afternoon to
see if that would clear up the problem with no luck.
However, it seems to access all my same settings and add-
ins so I am wondering if it might be better to to a total
clean install and reinstall of the add-ins and forms to
see if it clears it up. If you think this wise, what do
i have to delete to avoid it "finding" all my settings
when it reinstalls.
If you have other ideas of what to try, I am all ears.

I don't, but that certainly widens the possibilities. Perhaps someone who is
experienced at using custom forms has seen this before.
