Just formatted hard drive.
Re installed Office 2000 but when I imported the .pst
file. 5 duplicates of each contact appeared and when
emails come in, the application will not allow deletion.
Tried to delete contact duplicates but will not alow this
either.
Message comes up "The messaging interface has returned an
unknown error.  If the problem persists, please restart
Outlook".
Restarting has no impact.
Any ideas??

Now you see why we tell users not to import.
Create a new profile and set it to use your original PST file.
Always copy and reuse PST files. Don't export and import them.
