I am trying to add new contacts to outlook.  When I type
the name of the person such as John Smith, the first name
is Smith and the last name is John.

If I enter the name using the full name dialog box, names
also get displayed in reverse order: Smith John

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

if it's Outlook 2002 you are using, (PLEASE tell us your version, it makes
it ever so much easier!) then go to Tools-Options-Preferences-Contact
Options and change it there.

Did you have a poke around Options before posting?

My version is Outlook 2000.  I will try your suggestion.
