I do a lot of letter writing. My ideal situation would
be that I could be looking at a contact record in Outlook
2003 and under Actions, select New Letter To Contact.
I can actually do this part fine which is where I get the
Letter Wizard.
Here's where it stops functioning:
Under Choose A Page Design in step 1 of 4 of the wizard,
I am offerend several template options.
Ideally, I could create a template and have it pop up
here. I have managed to make that happen.
However, it doesn't seem to matter which "design" I
choose, the output of the letter is the same. The most
that changes is the font.
Any crackerjack troubleshooters out there want to take a
stab at this? It would sure help.

It has been ever thus. Only Styles will be used in your letter. Graphics,
frames, textboxes, and elements within frames and textboxes do not appear in
a letter to contact template.
You can look at other alternatives here:

I'd be happy if I could just get it to put plain Times New Roman text
in certain places on the page. It won't even space things properly
from the template. I.e., if the date is formatted as tabbed over to
the right of the page, it will be hugging the left margin with all the
rest of the text. Sure would be nice if I could get it to space and
tab properly. Hans
