Just installed XP/home on a new computer as well as
Outlook for workgroups & internet email.  My prior
installation of Outlook had a profile for my work
(exchange server) email as well as a separate profile for
my personal (internet) mail.  Worked very nicely ... I
had an offline address book under my work profile which I
would like to use in the new installation as a static
address book, ie, I am no longer working for the same
company, but want continued access to the offline address
book (recognizing it won't be updated and will become
stale over time).  I can locate a couple of .oab files
from my prior installation, but do not know how to
configure my new installation to recognize them.  HELP!

I'm afraid that you're out of luck. The .oab files will work only if you
have Exchange in your profile, which you won't be able to do unless you can
still connect to the Exchange server.
