I have office XP standard running with Windows XP Professional. Since
few days, I have been getting the message: "Outlook failed to clos
properly the last time. Start Outlook in Safe Mode? ..." Clicking ye
does not still start Outlook. I can not start Outlook no matter what
try.

My question: I am now getting a new computer, and do not care so muc
about retrieving outlook if that will not be easy. However:
1. I want my contacts saved on a zip disk so I can import it on my ne
Outlook on my new Computer. Can I do this somehow even though my ol
Outlook refuses to launch?

2. I had set up my Outlook settings after a lot of customization. I
there anyway I can retrieve these setting from my old Outlook and appl
to my new Outlook?

Thanks much for the help

The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
Depending on your Outlook version, there are some other files you might want
to back up: *.rwz (rules), outcmd.dat (custom toolbars), and *.fav (outlook
bar shortcuts).
