Open the contact form and check the "Private" box in the lower right corner.
Note: This will only have an effect if you're using Exchange, as far as I
know.

Thank you, it's hard to miss the private check box, this
is not really the problem.
This is my case, i am switching from using a palm os
device to a pocket pc, in the palm you can open all of the
contacts except for those marked as "private" unless of
course you type in the password.
Can i do the same with outlook?

No. There's nothing built into Outlook for hiding certain items. You'd
have to password protect the entire .PST file to keep others from accessing
the data in it.
