I've seen posts which suggest categories might be better to use than DLs to
send messages to a group of contacts.  I'm not exactly sure how to do that
and I checked OL2000 help but, alas, it was not helpful.

Suppose I have 5 contacts in "xyz" category and I want to send a message to
them.

Thanks.

Use the By Category view.
Select the Category Header
Actions > New Message to Contact

thanks - that works - although I've noticed the one advantage of DLs is that
I can simply type its name in the To box for a new message instead of the
steps you've outlined.

Any short cuts when using categories?
