When opening a new mail message, clicking the To button to
select recepients, no subfolders of Contacts appear in the
dropdown list beside Show Names from the:

I tried removing and reinstalling the Outlook 2000
component, and have tried running Office 2000 Service Pack
3 and the updates from the Office Update site.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanx

I forgot to mention that I've also tried removing and then
re-adding the Outlook Address Book service...

Did you try enabling the Subfolders as email address books in their
properties?

Before I knew the importance of the contacts folder, I deleted it.
wonder if it is possible to get it back.  Does anyone know how to d
this?

Retrieve it from your Deleted Items Folder.
New topics should go in new threads if you expect us to find them.

Thanx, that was simple.  What had me confused, is that on
my Desktop, I didn't have to take any additional steps,
but on the laptop, I need to specify the folder as an
address book.

Thanx again

Never seen that. Subfolders are never enabled by default in any version of
Outlook I've seen.

This is an easy fix.  In Outlook go to the contact folder
that you want to see in your "To:".  Right click on that
folder, goto properties.  Click on the Outlook Address
Book Tab, click the option to "Show this folder as an e-
mail Address Book.
