Change the default contact form

I designed a new form for contacts and would like to use this as the
default.  How do I do this?

From the file menue while the contacts file is open, go to
file-
     Folder-
             Properties for contacts-

                         on the General Tab, select your
new form as the "when posting to this folder, use:"

But what I would like to do now that I dont know how to do
is to take the over 1000 contacts I have on the standard
form and transfer all info to the new form.  Anyway to do
that??

You need to change the MessageClass on the existing items to point to your
new form's class. See
http://www.slipstick.com/dev/newdefaultform.htm#convert for several tools
and scripts to accomplish this.
