Have selected contact display order of Last Name First
for individual contacts. When I try to write a message
and then access contact list for addressing, contacts are
shown as First Name First.
How do I get this to show as Last Name First?

You did not post your Outlook version.
Depending on your version and mail support mode of Outlook, you can sort the
Outlook Address Book this way (check for your mode on the second line of the
Help menu > About):
97, 98/2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties > Set sort order
98/2000 Internet Mail Only:
Tools menu > Address Book > View menu > Sort by
Outlook 2002:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there

Go down below the contact view that you are using
to "Customize views". There you can add or delete fields
like "Last name" and move them up or down in your list of
fields.
