In a new pc I installed the hard drive from an old pcas a
slave.  I then was able to transfer all my data files
from the old drive to the new one.  However I cant locate
the outlook file where my contacts are stored.  I dont
know what file name to look for or what folder to look in!
Help.

The file you need to look for is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:

The default folder for the outlook file is
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook .

Hello there!

You have the default location, but you will also need to search your drive for a .pst file.
The .pst file holds all the Outlook data. Bottomline, if it is not in the default location,
search using (*.pst).

Good luck!
