I need to recover the contacts in an Outlook client connected to an
Exchange server.  I read that the contacts are stored as part of the user's
mailbox information in the Exchange server itself. Unfortunately this doesn't really tell me where to look.  (I need to recover my contact list from a backup tape)

Where specifically are the contacts located and how do I restore them to my pc?

This is better asked in an exchange newsgroup - short version is you need to
restore the taped backup to get your contacts.

what happened to the contacts? you may have other options.
