What a spectacularly bad idea. He is serious? He really wants all senders
added to his address book automatically?
Outlook had never done this and thankfully never would. Outlook has always
provided the option to R click an email address in the From field and Add to
Contacts from the Context menu.

Actually I think it did in bad ugly IMO mode, but we're trying to forget
that, aren't we? Spectacularly bad idea; adding recipients of outgoing
messages makes some sense, though. In any case, see
http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/addauto.htm for various ways to save
senders or recipients as new contacts automatically, depending on the
version and configuration of Outlook.

I just rechecked. IMO did a lot of dumb things, but not even it added
senders automatically--only recipients to whom you replied.
