on Outlook 2000, when I open the Address Book, the
selection of both "import" and "export" functions are
greyed out (unavailable). Need to import .ldif files into
this address book. Help section has nothing on choices
being unavailable. thanks for the help

The Address Book is not used for importing . The Contacts Folder is. That's
