You don't need a DL for that. Just set your folder view to By Category
and collapse the category you want. Select the Category header and
click on Actions, New Message to Contact. A new email opens addressed
to everyone in that category.
That has the advantage of being dynamic, if you add or remove contacts
from that category the latest set of contacts is always used.
