I can't get the address book.  When I forward something
or want to send a new e-mail and click on the  "to"
or "bcc" I get the window that says "cannot contact LDAP
Directory Server.".    I can get the address book by
clicking on "contacts" so it is not completely lost.

Are we to assume, then, that you do not use an LDAP? If so, remove it and
replace it with the Outlook Address Book.
