I don't know how else to explain it.
Your Outlook Address Book does not and cannot contain any information. It
can only display information that is in a Contacts Folder.
Therefore, somewhere in your Outlook Profile you must have a Contacts Folder
that the Outlook Address Book is displaying when you see all that
information.
You also, obviously have another, nearly empty Contacts Folder with that one
Contact.
Only you can sort this out. That's why I asked you to examine your Profile
closely to see how many Contacts Folders you have. You must have more than
one. Use View > Folder List and expand all Folders to see all the Folders
your Profile contains.

I have a similar situation. I have, on numerous occasions, entered into my contacts, a new contact. Upon "save and exit" the contact vanishes. If I select find from the toolbar, and type in the persons name, tada, there it is. I can open it and everything. Again, I save and exit, close the find bar, and look for the person in my contacts folder and they are not there. It has also happened that the missing "contact" is in the OAB however does not display in the "Contacts" folder. I have one contacts folder listed in my Personal Folders list. Why does Outlook have to have an OAB and a Contacts folder? Why can they not just have one? I have my contacts chosen as an address book. How do I get the people in the OAB to display in the contacts folder and how do I get the people that are out there somewhere, not displaying in either, to show up in the contacts folder

You've left something out. You must have more than one Contacts Folder to
see what you're seeing. Look again.
