I would like to store phone numbers in my contacts with

Please help.

Thank you

That option has been very carefully hidden. Find it in Contacts > Actions >
Call Contact... > New Call... > Dialing options...

I tried this option but still I cannot remove the 1 in
front of the area code. Is there a specific thing I must
do?  I cannot find the option.

does it not add the character on new contacts?  if so, you may need to edit
existing contacts.

Russ...I do not believe that this works. According to
Outlook 2000 Help "Microsoft Outlook will not use any
outside line access number designated in the Dial
Properties dialog box".

Are you proposing that you do some other than change Dial
Properties when you go through Contacts > Actions >
Call Contact... > New Call... > Dialing options...

Different question entirely. I was answering a question about automatically
adding the country code to phone number as they are entered into the Contact
Record. You are asking about how to control how a number is dialed. That is
not an Outlook question. Controlling how a number is dialed is an operating
system/dialing rule setting.
