When using the "Check Names" feature in an email message,
the auto complete window shows the smtp and the fax.  Is
there any way to turn off the fax so it will only show the
email address and actually auto complete?

Unfortunately there is no way to turn off the fax setting in contacts so
that the autocomplete will work the way you need. The only option would be
to move the fax number out of the phone number fields in the contacts and
put it in maybe the comments field or another non-phone number field.

I hope this information is helpful.
