As I enter a new contact to my contact list in Outlook (Outlook 2003 version, using MS Office Pro) - I enter full name, JOHN DOE, but want to have the File As show as DOE, JOHN.
It is currently showing in File as: JOHN, DOE

Go to in Tools | Options | Contact Options. Making a change there affects
only new contacts that you add after the change.

see if tools, accounts, change address books, double click on outlook
address book and change the file as helps.

also check the settings at tools, options, contacts button.
