Uneccessary step in Outlook -how to get rid of it

When I open Outlook I also next have to click on "Send & receive" to
get my new messages, how do I get rid of this step, in Outlook Express
as soon as you open it , it also downloads messages and puts the in
Outlook Express.  Bob

Go to Tools/Options/Email options/advanced email options
and set your desired time interval for accessing email.
