I just upgraded my Outlook 2000 to the XP OS, and now my
Address book doesn't seem to find my Contacts folder from
time to time.  It can take ages which is frutstrating.  I
did move the PST file to a backup directory.  Is that the
problem and if so is this fixable?  Thanks in advance.

State which mail support mode you are using.
Line 2 of Help | About if you don't know.

Sorry Russ its just POP3 Internet Email.  I don't log onto
an Exchange Server.  I have gone through your other posts
but can't figure it out.  Thanks.

Please look in Help | About and tell me what it says in line 2.
The fact that you use POP3 tells me nothing. That could still be either
mode.
If you are in "Internet Mail Only" mode, there is not much we can do to
repair the Outlook Address Book. IMO does not use the Outlook Address Book
and therefore has no option for the repair thereof. You are way overdue for
an upgrade.
Provide more information. I can think of no scenario in which the Outlook
Address Book would function "from time to time." That would be completely
inexplicable.

Internet Mail Only Security Update Russ.  I apolgise as I
thought that was implied by my earlier post.   Thanks for
the advice and yes it is strange but I'll figure something
out.

Since IMO does not use the Outlook Address Book, the only thing you can try
is to try to repair the Windows Address Book.
This is done in Outlook Express. Rename WAB32.DLL. Reinstall Outlook
Express. See if sharing is enabled in Tools > Options of the WAB.
