Might want to try a Pocket PC or Activesync group. That's where these issues
are dealt with.

Actually, not. The poorly named Pocket Contact Synchronizer utility doesn't
synchronize anything, in fact. It copies the contents on any Outlook
contacts folder into the default Contacts folder as a workaround to
ActiveSync's limitation that it can sync only the default folder.
I have no idea, though, why it can't do a proper copy and put the right data
in the correct fields.

I wonder who does support it, then. It's never crossed my path before. Guess
I've just been lucky.

It's one of those more or less unsupported tools you can download from
Microsoft.com

Thanks Sue. I recognized that last week when I wasn't
connected but still successfully did a 'sync' with PCS.
Investigation led me to the correct conclusion after I
realized the few valid contacts I did have in the root
folder were now a part of a few hundred copied over by
PCS. That said, it's really weird why it doesn't do the
correct copy. I don't think it is an every case thing -
maybe only when there is a home address as well - not
sure. Anyway, I was hoping to catch someone's attention
who knew how to get it fixed or a place where MS would
allow comments directly related to it. Thanks anyway.
