How do I list email groups first in the contacts list

I'm using Outlook 2002. In the old version, I could go to the contacts list,
and in the Select Names box, I could clik on the email addrsss field and it
would put them in alphabetical order with the email groups listed first.
Nothing happens when I click on any field listed under the Select Names box
in 2002. Help! Is there a way to either have the groups listed first as the
default or is there a way to sort on them so they'll show up together?

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there

Thanks for you reply Russ. Unfortunately, the only options for sorting are by
first or last name. There are no options for email groups. I have quite a few
email groups so when I want to send out bulk emails it would be helpful to be
able to see all of the groups together instead of having to navigate
alphabetically though my whole contacts list. Any help with this would be
greatly appreciated.

This is going to be confusing to you. There is no such option and never has
been. Your only sorting options in the Outlook Address Book are "First,
Last" and "File As..."

The reason you may be confused is that you weren't actually using the
Outlook Address Book before. You were using a downsized version of Outlook
2000 known as Internet Mail Only Mode. Microsoft made you think you were
using the Outlook Address Book, but you were actually using the Windows
Address Book because IMO did not have the capacity to support the Outlook
Address Book. No current versions use this sleight of hand because they all
now support the Outlook Address Book.

The Outlook Address Book does not use Groups. It uses Distribution Lists
which you must create within your Contacts Folder. Any groups you created in
the Windows Address Book will not survive an upgrade to the any of the
current versions of Outlook.

I would suggest you create Distribution Lists in your Contacts Folder (if
they are not there already) and name them in such a way that they will sort
to the top of the list when you choose to sort by the "File As..." field.

Well I think that hit the nail on the head. My computer crashed and when
Outlook was reinstalled, the Corporate or Workgroup option was used. Thanks
for clearing that up for me.
