How do I conform Contacts on my desktop and laptop?

Isn't there a quick, one-step way to "synch up" my Contacts base on my laptop
with my master database on my desktop?  And shouldn't that also be possible
in Calendar?

It sure was an easy one-click with my Palm VII.
