I'm getting a message about named ranges, this should be simple, but I'm
having trouble.  Help please.

All the data you are trying to import from Excel should be defined under ONE
named range

In Excel
  - Highlight all the rows you want to import INCLUDING the first row that
contains
     the column names, then in the menu bar goto
  -  Insert -> Name -> Define and assign a name

In Outlook, if you have more then one named range appearing, make sure you
use the named range above

If you want to avoid all of this, save your worksheet as a .CSV file and
import that file instead.
