Why doesn't Outlook use contacts for the default address book

My Contacts information went into a "personal address book" in Outlook.  I
read that you should put it into the default address book; but, I do not know
how to do this.  Any help would be appreciated

Outlook does not use an address book. Contacts reside in your Contacts
Folder. You simply need to configure the address book view to show that
folder.
If you do not know how, post your Outlook version, or for Outlook 2002/2003
