Outlook 2003 Distribution List

I have a long distribution list that I have used and  edited for a while.
There are several "phantom" names that appear when I expand the list in the
"To" line but which do not appear when I edit the  list from address book.
How can I delete these names?

Your description is pretty vague on where you are seeing these names. I
doubt those names are in your DL. More likely they are in your
autocompletion cache. Delete individual names by highlighting them and using
your Delete key:
