I have MS office 2000.  The only part of outlook I want to
back up to my ZIP drive is the contacts.  I do not want to
back up the rest of outlook.  It takes up unnecessary disk
space.  Which part of outlook do I need to select in order
to back up my contacts?

The Contacts Folder.
Copy them into a PST file of their own and save that.
