Hi - I have a new laptop, and after trying to transfer
folders, files, asking help, etc. have had no luck - I
simply want to transfer my contacts to my new laptop from
my old one - i've simply reinstalled outlook on my new
computer - you would think this should be very straight
forward - whatever happened to the old of of just saving
your datatbase to a disk and opening it on the new
computer? It almost seems like it's designed to make this
difficult to do - thanks - Kevin

Post your Outlook version.
Most people simply migrate (copy and reuse) their Outlook data file. That
will preserve the most settings and information. Instructions here:

why not find the oulook.pst file on your old computer and paste it to
the location of the file on your new one. That way you'll have
everything that was on the old -- contacts, calendar, categoru=ies,
emails as well as your old settings.

That is very bad advice.
Never overwrite a PST file. You will corrupt the profile and lose data every
time.
That's why I posted the instructions on how to migrate Outlook data.
