I cannot send or receive in outlook from anyone who is in
the address book, but if i send to someone who is not on
the address book it sends and receives with no problems.
there was a worm virus on the machine at one point which
was removed it must have altered the registry somehow
affecting the address book entries. i have tried deleting
the wab file creating it again, restore the wab32.dll but
nothing works. i would hate to have to wipe the machine.
any ideas?

Outlook does not use a WAB file.
Are you using Outlook?
