I need to get the contact list from Windows 98/Outlook 97
to Windows XP/Outlook 2003.  I tried exporting to a .pst
file and put it on a server, then opened it on the newer
machine.  All I could find were the email addresses, no
contacts.  What am I doing wrong?

Exporting is what you're doing wrong.
Just copy the PST and open it in the other installation.
