how to control how names are alphabetized in Outlook Contacts

Contacts files my entries ramdomly, sometimes by last name, sometimes by
first name. It doesn't seem to matter how I enter them, last name first or
first name first. This is unacceptable, how can I fix it?

You did not post your Outlook version or the view to which you are
referring. You did not post your default settings for the Full Name and File
As... fields. How can we answer you?
