In addition to the Spouse's name in the contact field, for personal contacts
it'd be very convinient to have filds for their kids, and birthaday dates
w/reminders.
Also, it'd be conbiniet to be able to link from these fields directly to the
correponding contacts for these family memebers

You can add fields! Microsoft will never have the exact fields we all want.
You can even design the form to show the fields, or just use the Phone List
view and shoe all fields there in a table.
