I was attempting to export my outlook contacts to my laptop and somehow
imported old contact info into my contacts.  Where might I find the contacts
I had before the mistake, and how do I get this info back into outlook?

Start by providing more detailed information. It's hard for us to correct
your mistake when we can't tell what the mistake was.
For future reference, exporting and importing is not the correct way to
transfer Outlook data. Simply open the Outlook data file (PST file) from
which you want to transfer data, and copy that data into your current PST
file.
