How do i get my new outlook 2003 to put the area code in parenthe.

I just got my new laptop and installed my Outlook 2003. I have now noticed
that when I type in the 10 digit phone number, the area code no longer
becomes enclosed in parentheses. It did not do this on my old laptop with the
same application.
