Contacts and Categories

Here's the scenario.
The user's hard drive crashed and lost a personal folder.  Contacts were
part of this file and these contacts had several categories added to the
base list of categories.
This user had another older version of this Contact list which should have
all the categories that were used in the one that was lost.
Is there any way to recover these categories in a new installation of
Outlook?

Windows 2000
Office 2000 Pro

That's great Russ.
The trouble is that the original Outlook crashed with the hard drive.  The
only thing left that may have categories left in it is the old PST file.
From that is there any way to get the categories back or it that a hopeless
cause?

Not that I know of. Categories are stored in the registry, not the PST.
