I need to know how to make a note to post in a calendar item for the future.

Create (or open) the calendar item and add a note in the Notes field. If you
have a note on the Notes folder that you want in a calendar item, drag it to
the calendar folder or open a calendar item and use Insert to attach it to
the notes field.
