When using delivery to personal folders from main mailbox,
and trying to save new entries to contacts, the contacts
are entered into the opposite box from the location the
process begins. Inotherwords, while in main box, new
contacts are default saved to pst file contacts and visa
versa.

I would think that they'd all get saved by default to the Contacts folder in
your default message store. How are you getting the new entries (mailed to
you or are you creating them by hand).
