Updating e-mail addresses in distribution lists

When a Contact's e-mail address is changed in Contacts, the "Update Now"
button in a distribution list does not update the contacts e-mail address in
the distribution list.  The change in the Contact also changes the Display
Name (First Last (e-mail address)) which is, I think, why the distribution
list remains unchanged.  The Default display name should not contain the
e-mail address to make managing distribution lists easier.

The default Display Name is not in play here.
Update Now has rarely, if ever, worked for Distributions Lists. That's one
of many reasons few of us use them.

You will find that members of the distribution list that
existed on a prior release will not update in the current
release. Remove the older members and Select Members again.
Following that they will update with new e-mail addresses.
I use Alt+W, to update and Alt+S to save the distribution list.

My point, exactly.

Hey, thanks for the responses, guys!  However, this is a distribution list
that was not created with a previous version of Outlook (I use Office 2002).
I also found that when an e-mail address is added to a contact, the display
name defaults to First Last (e-mail_address).  If I change the display name
to First Last by deleting the e-mail address reference, the Update Now button
works as expected.  It's just that going through every contact and manually
changing the display name of each one is a bit out of the question.  I'm
trying to find a way to change the default format for the display name.
