Until Outlook 2003, Outlook can only integrate with modem faxing, so you can
only fax over a phone line from Outlook.
Ask your ISP if they also provide outbound service.

OK thanks - I'll do that. Assuming they do provide
Outbound, how do I send a fax using Outlook? Is is
possible to send attachments or only 'e-mail equivalents'?

As I said, only Outlook 2003 can integrate with an Internet Fax Service. You
can only use modem faxing with earlier versions, and then only with Windows
2000 or Windows XP Fax.
