I am having a problem using the fax numbers from the contact list in
Outlook 2003.

I am printing to the fax from Word.

When I pick the fax number(s) from the contact list it includes the
parentheses and also the XP fax program does not add a one for long
distance and does not recognize the parentheses. I have had to go in
after choosing the number from the contacts and remove the parentheses
and add the one. This is a collosal waste. What am I doing wrong.
Outlook put the parentheses in I did not. Help it's drivn me nuts.

You need to use Canonical (International) format for dialing rules to work:

Dialing Rules May Not Be Applied to Tools Such as Fax

You Must Enter Telephone Numbers in Canonical Form in Order to Use Dialing
Rules
