I receive faxes daily the traditional way, but I am often not in the office.
Is there a way to receive incoming faxes directly to an email account when
using an external fax modem / build into the computer?

Clarify what you want to do, with what fax software and what version of
Outlook.
Are you asking how to forward faxes automatically to an email account? There
is no way to do that.

So you own FAX machine set "stand-by" for receiving message, the machine
WORKS even if you are not in the office.
If you get FAX messgae transferring servive to your e-mail account,
you can read it when you are outdoors with mobile environment,
do not try to receive FAX message to Outlook in office PC, it's all the same
as FAX machine and you HAVE to open Outlook TO READ FAX MESSAGE
WHEN YOU COME BACK TO THE OFFICE  same as you read FAX
paper on your FAX machine?

Or if you have "mobile PC" with Outlook, FAX message transferring service
may help you than before, and it is still not the matter that you have
external
fax modem / build into the computer IN YOUR OFFICE.
