MS Office Forum / Outlook / Interop / October 2003OL2002 not creating .NK2 file
I'm having a problem with OL2002 creating the name cache file. I've search the entire computer and the .nk2 or .nick file is nowhere to be found. I'm running the enterprise verison of OL2002 on a system running MS Windows XP Home edition. I've tried detect and repair as well as completely reinstalling the software. Does anyone know if there is a registry key that is created? Windows XP hides most Outlook files, so make sure you search in hidden and system files and folders. You do know that Outlook 2002 only creates the file when an e-mail address is typed into a new mail message, right -- you know that the AutoComplete function in Outlook is not tied to the Contacts folder? The problem that I'm having is that if I have outlook open, after sending a few messages, it will remember the email address that I already typed. However, as soon as I close outlook and then reopen it. It no longer remembers the previous addresses. (I used the term AutoComplete incorrectly, I meant Suggest Names while typing email addresses. Sorry!)
