show an envelope icon in the systems tray

I have client running Outlook XP (2002) and I have checked
the Option to show an envelope icon in the systems tray
under Tools/Options/Preferences/Email Options/Advanced
Email Options...but it does not seems to display the
notifcation when new email arrives ..could kindly someone
advise or if I am missing anything. Thanks in advance!

i encountered the same problem today. i seem to only have
this problem on one machine. the only way my problem
differs is that i can't get outlook to display
notification message either.

See if you have inactive icons hidden in the system tray. If so, the
envelope would be hidden.

Right click on the taskbar. Select 'Properties', then the 'Taskbar'
tab. The last option is 'Hide Inactive Icons'. Make sure that option
is not checked.
