Hello,

I've a user who doesn't get the envelope in the systray
when receiving a new mail. I checked all the options.
Everything seems correct. The other users don't have this
kind of problem. I checked the settings on the other
machines, they are the same. Did anybody have this kind
of problem?

Thanks,

Greg

Yeah, i've seen this problem as well, with one of my co-
workers. Same symptoms, no options seem to be different
from any other machines that work, everything is as it
should be. It isn't a vital problem, it is just
irritating to this person! and me being the interim IT
guy, it is frustrating me that i can't solve it!

Anybody got any ideas? Iv'e found some KB articles, but
that involves editing the registry, and i want to make
sure that it isn't just some option i have overlooked
before i start messing around in there.

Thanks

Nathan J

LOL, i should do a more thorough check before i post a
problem.

I solved this using this method below:
When you know you have new mail (but without opeing that
mail)
Right click the Taskbar, and untick Lock the Taskbar.
Right-Click in some empty space in the system tray.
Click on Customize Notifications.
Look for "You have new unopened items".
See if it's set to Always Hide, or Hide when Inactive.
If so, click on it and change it to Always Show.
That now allows the email notification to work properly!

This worked for me, however it may differ, depending on
what your using.
My co-worker is using Win XP with Outlook 200 SP3
